Cyber Safety Notice from Police Scotland

Police Scotland has informed us that there has been a spike in fraud in some areas of Rutherglen and Hamilton West. The fraudsters have been phoning members of the public pretending to be from a bank or well known companies such as Amazon, Sky or BT, aiming to convince the member of the public that one of their accounts has been hacked.

The complainant is then encouraged to open another account or download a specific app which allows the hackers access to the complainer’s computer, passwords and bank account details.

Please find attached below a briefing from Police Scotland about cyber safety and resilience.
