On Tuesday the 18th of May, I had the opportunity to respond to the Government’s plans for legislation outlined in the Queen’s Speech for this session. I was delighted to be able to present my criticisms of the Government’s plans for leasehold reform, which at present remain barebones and do not include sufficient reassurance to the owners and tenants of flats in buildings with flammable cladding.
While in Scotland, policy on the remediation of buildings with flammable cladding is made by the Scottish Government, how much funding is available for these purposes is directly dependent on how much funding is granted via the Barnett formula.
You may find a recording of my speech on Parliament TV, and a transcript of it on Hansard.
