Debate on Cervical Screening, 19/07/2021

Yesterday I had the opportunity to participate in a parliamentary debate on a petition to introduce a proposal known as Fiona’s Law, where all women would be offered a cervical cancer screening annually. Engaging with suggestions from clinicians and cervical cancer charities, I sought to highlight that while this proposal may not be the most viable or most desirable way of attaining greater screening uptake, there are concrete steps that we can take to ensure that access is widened, risk is adequately assessed and appointments are not missed.
