I am  devastated to hear the news about Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West. He was always a very likeable, kind and supportive colleague and worked cross party. He will be greatly missed by Members across the House. 

He was an outstanding constituency MP who always worked hard for his constituents. So tenacious in his campaign to get Southend city status. 

Never a fan of virtual meetings, he truly loved meeting his constituents in person, and I know he would have been excited at finally being able to do so. 

My deepest condolences go out to his family, colleagues, staff and his constituents.
