Monday started with Oral Questions to the Home Office. During topicals, where I asked if the Government were planning  to include aviation on the skilled worker visa occupation list to address shortfalls in the sector. You can read a transcript of my question her in Hansard, or watch it here on ParliamentTV.

In the afternoon, I participated in a Westminster Hall debate on ADHD and Autism Diagnosis. Here I made a speech to draw attention to the difficulties of obtaining a diagnosis, the high cost of doing so and the difficulties that women and girls have with under-diagnosis and misdiagnosis. You can read a transcript of my speech here in Hansard, or watch it here on ParliamentTv.

Tuesday began with a Westminster Hall debate on Saving for Later Life. I made three interventions here. Firstly, to mention how complicated private pension schemes can be and the importance of the DWP creating a system which looks to make this simpler. Then to raise concerns around sex based inequalities in pensions and the negative impact that this can have on both women and men, an issue addressed in part by my Private Members Bill last year. And finally, to highlight concerning research which shows that only 25% of people from ethnic minorities have retirement funds in place and ask what can be done to encourage uptake in these communities. You can read transcripts of my interventions here, here and here in Hansard, or watch the whole debate here on ParliamentTv.

This was followed by Oral Question to the Treasury. I asked the Minister what measures are being taken to ensure that the Financial Services and Markets Bill doesn’t contribute to an economic crash when passed, as it seeks to further deregulate the financial sector. You can read a transcript of my question here in Hansard, or watch it here on ParliamentTv.

Later that day there was a Ministerial Statement from the Foreign Office on the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria. I asked what work the department was doing to protect families in the UK with loved ones in the impacted region from scammers looking to exploit the situation. You can read a transcript of my question here in Hansard or watch it here on ParliamentTv.
